IBM Power8
IBM's 2014 Power generation. Standard IBM service ended across the full line by October 2024. Cheapest to acquire, but scores lowest overall on the Power Value Index because remaining useful life and value retention are near zero.
Power8 launched in 2014 and was IBM's flagship generation until Power9 arrived in 2018. Every Power8 model completed its transition off standard IBM service by 31 October 2024, which is the single biggest factor behind its bottom-ranked Power Value Index score.
