End of Service (EOS)
The date IBM stops offering standard hardware maintenance and service on a given Power model.
After EOS, a system can typically still run, but support shifts to costlier extended contracts or third-party maintenance providers, and firmware/security updates stop. Power8's full line completed EOS by October 2024; Power9 scale-out models reached EOS 31 January 2026.
